Rudy Gunawan spent his whole career in Law Office Rudy Gunawan & Partners since he established the firm in 1981 upon obtaining the decree from Supreme Court and Jakarta High Court,
together with his partners Mr. Krissantoso Bayu Aji, SH., MH., Mr. Widijono. SH., MM., MKn., Mr. Arifin Sinuhaji, SH., and Jujur Halasan Bakara, SH., Mkn., and until now operating the law firm professionally.
He received a Master in Law degree in 1979 and as member of the Indonesian Bar Association. After graduating from English Literature Faculty in 1984, he had the honor to be the proxy and or Legal Consultant for several leading integrated Textile Industries; Real Estate and Developers; Electric & Electronic Factories; Heavy Equipment Manufacturer/Distributors and other multinational companies. Among them are: PT. Hasana Damai Putra (Damai Putra Group), PT. Indorama Synthetics Mills Tbk., PT. Guna Electro, PT. Printec Perkasa, PT. Capsugel Indonesia, PT. China Harbour Indonesia, PT. Tamco Indonesia, PT. Sepco II Indonesia, PT. Dong Fang Electric Indonesia, PT. Petracarbon Indonesia, PT. Henan Petroleum Indonesia, Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation, China, Master Flo Valve Inc., Canada, BUT China Machinery Industry Construction Group Inc., Shandong Electric Power Construction No.2 Company, China, PT. Inabata Indonesia, Japan, etc.
During his professional career he has been involving and practiced almost exclusively in litigation and most types of commercial litigation including debt recovery, bankruptcy petition and Postponement of Debt Repayment, commercial and contractual disputes, corporate disputes, civil and criminal litigation, such as claims on commercial agreements, insurance, and matrimonial disputes.
With the major clients from Europe, South East Asia, Japan, The People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Korea and Australia, he is used to communicating with all clients both in English or Chinese Mandarin. Since the bloody riots erupted Jakarta in the middle of May 1998, he has joined The Human Rights Group and Activist of Anti Discrimination Organization in Indonesia.
He was rewarded as one of "The Great 17 Prestigious Man and Women of 1999" arranged by "Citra Indonesian Award" which was held in August 22, 1999. H e obtained some Seminary Certificates such as "The Improvement of Contract Law in Indonesia Business Practice" which was held by The Ministry of Justice in 1993, "Foreign and Domestic Investment Opportunity" seminar in 1994 and "Bankruptcy Seminar" in 1998, also held by Ministry of Justice.
Rudy Gunawan also had the honor to be 'speaker' for several Seminars, such as a Conference of "Strategic Practical Debt Recovery in Indonesia" held by The Asia Pacific Institute for Management Development of Singapore in 1993 and also "National Seminar of Insurance Law" held by Law Faculty of the Trisakti University, Jakarta in 1993 and as the Speaker of Matrimonial Seminar held by Sin Hoa Alumni Association at University Bunda Mulya, Jakarta on 24th May 2015.
